On a construction of charged relativistic point particles

We present an investigation of sequences of charged, time-symmetric, conformally and asymptotically flat initial data; the goal of this investigation is to obtain relativistic charged point particle initial data in the limit. Our main result shows that only extreme Reissner-Nordstrom metrics arise in this fashion, and mathematically establishes the claim made by Arnowitt, Deser and Misner regarding charged point sources.
